A Legend in the Making
"A killer, this kid. To say that Vincent Van Gough was a good painter, is like saying Jamie MacDonald is a good trumpet player. This guy is only going to improve with age (if that's posssible). There WAS Miles Davis (who he alluded to many times during his performance) --and there IS Jamie MacDonald.
To attempt to single out the best of the night is difficult. He surrounds himself with talented musicians (with whom he has great rappore); has wonderful stage presence; and has no ego--a remarkable triumvirate in today's entertainment industry. He was on stage for more than 2 hours with no break in the action.
The highlight for me was the band's interpretation of the classic Miles Davis album, “Kind of Blue” with a fine version of “Flamenco Sketches.” His guest musicians, concert violinist Caroline Campbell (brilliant), the piano stylings of Geoffrey Keezer and the rhythm and blues singer Lisa Fisher, rounded out a hugely entertaining evening which was frosting on the cake.
My wife and I agree that it was one of the best of it's kind we have ever seen. Those of us in Hyannis on Friday, witnessed a legend in the making, at the top of his game."
